Deflect Terms of Use
Effective October 3, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and [YOUR LEGAL NAME] ("we", "us"), the maker of Deflect. They add to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies to your use of Deflect. By using Deflect you agree to both. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
Who can use Deflect
- You must be at least 13. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
- Deflect's 18+ voice is only for adults. Don't turn it on if you're under 18.
What Deflect does, and doesn't
- Deflect is a self-control tool. It uses Apple's Screen Time to block the apps you choose, and its AI decides whether to give you time.
- Blocking depends on iOS and on your settings. You can always turn it off, for example in Screen Time settings or by deleting the app, and it can stop working because of changes Apple makes. Don't rely on Deflect where losing access to an app, or failing to block one, could cause harm.
- Deflect's replies are written by AI. They can be wrong, and they aren't medical, mental health or other professional advice. If you're in crisis or in danger, contact your local emergency services (in the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
Deflect Pro
- Deflect requires a Deflect Pro subscription, billed weekly or yearly at the price shown in the app before you buy. While you're not subscribed, your blocks are paused.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before that period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period continues until it ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
Your account and content
- You're responsible for your account and what you send through it.
- What you write and the photos you send stay yours. You let us process them only to run Deflect, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- Proof photos should show only what Deflect asked for. Don't send anyone else's private information, or anything illegal.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse Deflect or its servers. For example, don't try to get around its usage limits, access it with automated tools, interfere with the service, or reverse engineer our server.
Ending your use
You can stop using Deflect and delete your account at any time in the Customize tab. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Disclaimers and liability
Deflect is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Deflect. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for Deflect in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], United States, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we'll tell you in the app, and the new terms apply once you keep using Deflect after that.
